# Connect Claude

Claude connects to Passion with your Passion account. You do not need an API key.

## Before you start

- You have a Claude account. Every Claude plan can add a custom connector. On the Free plan you
  can add only one.
- On a Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add a custom connector. If you are not an
  Owner, ask one to do step 1 to 3 in [Organization settings › Connectors](https://claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors)
  (**Add**, then **Custom**). Then go to step 4.
- You own a Passion App and can sign in to Passion Studio.

## Connect

1. On [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) or in Claude Desktop, open
   [**Customize › Connectors**](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors).
2. Click **Add custom connector**.
3. For the server URL, enter:

   ```text
   https://api.passion.io/mcp
   ```

   Give it the name `Passion`. Leave the other settings as they are, then click **Add**.
4. Click **Connect** on the Passion connector. A Passion page opens.
5. If you are not signed in to Passion Studio, sign in.
6. The page asks you to connect Claude to Passion:
   - Under **Apps Claude can use**, tick the Apps Claude may use.
   - Under **What Claude can do**, choose **Read only** (Claude sees your App's data and changes
     nothing) or **Full access** (Claude can also make changes, such as posting to a community).
7. Click **Allow**. You go back to Claude, and Passion is connected.

When Passion can confirm the request comes from Claude, the page shows a **Verified** mark. If
the page warns that Passion can't confirm who made the app, and you did not just start this
from Claude, click **Deny**.

## Use it

Start a chat and ask, for example:

> Give me an overview of my App.

To turn Passion on or off for one chat, click **+** in the chat, choose **Connectors**, and use
the switch next to Passion.

Before Claude runs a tool that makes changes, it asks you. Read what it will do before you agree.

## Disconnect

You can disconnect in Claude, in Passion Studio, or in both.

- **In Claude:** open [**Customize › Connectors**](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors) and
  click **Remove** next to Passion.
- **In Passion Studio:** open **Settings › Integrations**. Under **Connected apps**, click
  **Revoke** next to Claude. Claude can no longer reach your App, even if the connector is still
  in Claude.

To change the Apps or the access, revoke the connection in Studio, then connect again from
Claude.

## When it does not work

| You see | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| "This sign-in has expired. Start it again from the app." | Go back to Claude and click **Connect** again. Finish in the same browser. |
| "You have no App to connect yet." | Create your App in Passion Studio first. |
| "Staff can't connect apps for a creator." | Only the App's creator can connect it. Sign in as the creator. |
| Claude says Passion needs you to sign in again | Click **Connect** on the Passion connector again. |
