# Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to Passion with your Passion account. You do not need an API key.

## Before you start

- You use ChatGPT **Business**, **Enterprise** or **Edu**. Other ChatGPT plans cannot add a
  custom MCP server.
- On Business, only workspace admins and owners can add one. On Enterprise and Edu, admins can
  also give the permission **Create plugins with MCPs** to other members.
- You use ChatGPT on the web, at [chatgpt.com](https://chatgpt.com). The ChatGPT mobile apps
  cannot add a custom MCP server.
- You own a Passion App and can sign in to Passion Studio.

## Connect

1. Go to [**Plugins**](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) in ChatGPT.
2. Click the **+** button, then **Add custom MCP server**.
3. For the name, enter `Passion`.
4. Under **Connection**, for the server URL, enter:

   ```text
   https://api.passion.io/mcp/chatgpt
   ```

   This is ChatGPT's own Passion address. It has every Passion tool except the three general
   tools that search and run any API operation, which ChatGPT does not allow.

5. For authentication, choose **OAuth**.
6. Read the risk warning and tick **I understand and want to continue**.
7. Click **Create as a plugin**. When ChatGPT asks you to sign in, a Passion page opens.
8. If you are not signed in to Passion Studio, sign in.
9. The page asks you to connect ChatGPT to Passion:
   - Under **Apps ChatGPT can use**, tick the Apps ChatGPT may use.
   - Under **What ChatGPT can do**, choose **Read only** (ChatGPT sees your App's data and
     changes nothing) or **Full access** (ChatGPT can also make changes, such as posting to a
     community).
10. Click **Allow**. You go back to ChatGPT. It shows the Passion tools it found.
11. Install the Passion plugin.

When Passion can confirm the request comes from ChatGPT, the page shows a **Verified** mark. If
the page warns that Passion can't confirm who made the app, and you did not just start this
from ChatGPT, click **Deny**.

To give Passion to your whole workspace, an admin or owner publishes it. See OpenAI's article
below.

## Use it

Start a new chat, type `@`, and choose **Passion**. Then ask, for example:

> Give me an overview of my App.

Choosing Passion applies to one message. Type `@Passion` again when a later question needs new
data from Passion.

Before ChatGPT runs a tool that makes changes, it can ask you. Read what it will do before you
agree.

## Disconnect

- **In Passion Studio:** open **Settings › Integrations**. Under **Connected apps**, click
  **Revoke** next to ChatGPT. ChatGPT can no longer reach your App.
- **In ChatGPT:** remove the Passion plugin from [**Plugins**](https://chatgpt.com/plugins).

To change the Apps or the access, revoke the connection in Studio, then connect again from
ChatGPT.

## When it does not work

| You see | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| No **Add custom MCP server** | Your plan or your workspace role does not allow it. Ask your workspace admin. |
| "This sign-in has expired. Start it again from the app." | Start again in ChatGPT. Finish in the same browser. |
| "You have no App to connect yet." | Create your App in Passion Studio first. |
| "Staff can't connect apps for a creator." | Only the App's creator can connect it. Sign in as the creator. |
